"The name, by which you shall be called is Blake Christopher Bird..."
On Sunday, March 1, 2015, daddy blessed you at church with his Priesthood power that you will one day receive! Daddy, along with your Grandpa Bird, Grandpa Chipman, Great-Grandpa Bird, Uncle Bird and dad's closest friends, laid their hands on your head to give you the blessing of a life time!
Family and friends came from all over to see and hear the wonderful words during Sacrament Meeting that will bless your life for eternity.
Your Uncle Chris and Daniel were still serving their missions but they were definitely there in spirit! You wore your Uncle Chris's suit that he was blessed in when he was a baby! It was very special.
As I sat among the congregation while some pretty important men surrounded you with their hands on your head, giving you blessings, I became very emotional. I'm already very grateful for my new beautiful family, but my heart was swelling with so much love and gratitude for this Gospel and what it has done for my life. I am so grateful and happy to have a husband who not only holds the Priesthood, but cherishes it. I'm grateful that your daddy puts God and his family before everything else. He really loves us Blake! The Gospel does that for families. We are centered around Heavenly Father and for that, our lives are rich with blessings! I knew, in that moment, that no matter what trials this life would throw at us, we would be okay because we have each other and more importantly, we have the Gospel. And so with that, this is my prayer to you, coinciding with daddy's blessing to you...
Daddy said some sweet things in your blessing about how you were going to change lives for the better and be a blessing in your mommy's life as well. He said many things that I have faith will come true if you decide to live righteously. It is my prayer that daddy and I can teach you to walk the path of righteousness and that you can can always lean on us to be taught and understand what choosing the right means. It is my prayer that we will have taught you to be selfless, kind and loving, so that when you go off on your own, you may always remember that the most important attributes are Christ-like ones. It is my prayer that you will never judge unrighteously, but love unconditionally. It is my prayer, and the most important one, that you will know how much you are loved, especially by your family and Heavenly Father.
